Queen's Park Disco Sessions

One Day in the Park

5pm – 10pm

Melting Pot x Heverlee present...

Coming off the back of a sold out weekend of disco fun in May, we're back in July for the biggest and most ambitious disco party yet!

One Night at the Disco are bringing the good people of Glasgow the opportunity to visit an era of pure decadence, excess, glamour and music that became the blue print for modern day dance music. What's more, we are playing this out in the leafy confines of Queen's Park Arena Glasgow!

Founded mainly in New York City, disco was a phenomenon that changed music and nightclubs forever - from the underground bath houses hosted by Frankie Knuckles and the apartment parties held by David Mancuso at The Loft and Nicky Siano's Gallery, to the opulence of Studio 54 with its regular celeb guests to the Paradise Garage hosted by Larry Levan. They were the venues that were breaking the boundaries - DJs were now mixing records, gay and straight, rich and poor audiences were now mixing together and producers such as Walter Gibbons, Giorgio Moroder and Tom Moulton were making records now specifically for the dance floor.

Artists like Chaka Khan, Diana Ross, Gloria Gaynor, Nile Rodgers, Sylvester and Donna Summer were taking over the world - it was a revolution.

Added to the site is the Heverlee Beer Village which will have an 80s soundtrack as Bosco & Rob Mason (Let's Go Back To The 80's) and DJ Wayne Dickson (Groove Line Records) guide us through disco, soul, funk, pop and everything in-between from the clubs during that era.

The spirit of that eras will descend on Queen's Park with its music, performers, glitter bomb face decorators plus much more.

After Party is at Savings Bank in Laurieston - this is a very cool spot - think Al Pacino's pad in Scarface :) Tickets here are limited by capacity, so get in early if you'd like to make a night of it. One Night at the Disco at The Savings Bank runs from 10pm - 1am.

Oh, and we're sorry to say if you are wanting to hear ABBA, Bee Gees, YMCA, Carwash, The Nolans, etc. then this ISN'T the party for you. Please note the influences above :)
